Love Your Hair: Hair Care for Aging Hair
This post is sponsored by Hair Biology, but all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
Recently, my daughter, Mollie, and I decided to treat ourselves to a trip to Mexico to celebrate our birthdays. It’s not often that I have the chance to truly unwind and focus on myself, but I was determined to make the most of this special getaway. We planned a lot of self-care for our trip, indulging in spa treatments, fresh meals, and lots of yoga and meditation. Reflecting on this busy summer, I’m grateful for the opportunity to relax and recharge.
Enjoying the solitude helps me reflect on the importance of taking care of my mind and body. Being a working mom and now working Bella (my fun grandmother name), it’s so easy to put everyone else’s needs before my own. I’ve realized that to be the best wife, daughter, mom, grandmother, and boss that I can be, I also need to prioritize caring for myself. It’s essential to nurture my inner beauty for my overall well-being, and caring for my physical appearance helps with my overall confidence.
We all have our insecurities, and for me, that has been my hair. My hair has been on quite the journey! For years, I had my version of the Rachel haircut. My short, sassy signature hairdo was thick, shiny, and voluminous. I loved how easy it was to maintain and how good it looked, especially on camera. After my battle with breast cancer, my hair went through the first wave of changes, and so I decided to grow it, so it was a little longer. My new bob is the perfect length for thinning hair. But while filming Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta, my hair endured hours under hot blow dryers and hair straighteners with excessive styling products to achieve the perfect on-screen look. As I continued to age, I noticed that my hair was becoming drier, and thinner, and was more prone to breakage. Combine aging, product overuse, and the aftermath of breast cancer treatment, and my hair has been through a remarkable transformation!
Let’s face it, how our hair looks plays a big role in how we feel about ourselves. This is why I truly believe in investing in a haircare routine, especially as we get older. It’s not about trying to turn back the clock, it’s about embracing where we are today and finding products that work for us. Truth be told, how my hair looks directly impacts how confident I feel every day. It’s important to me to look in the mirror and feel my best, and when my hair looks good, I feel good in my skin.
I’ve been using Hair Biology for a while now, and I’m thrilled with the results. The brand understands that our hair goes through its evolution as we age, and they developed a range of products that cater specifically to the changes our hair goes through. Whether it’s dryness, thinning, greying, or all three, their range of products cares for and nourishes our hair as it continues to change.
My new hair care routine begins in the shower with the Full & Vibrant Shampoo, which gently cleanses my hair without stripping away moisture. “I follow up with the Full & Vibrant Conditioner, which provides lightweight nourishment for body & softness. If you have color-treated hair, like I do, then you know how nice it feels to be able to run your fingers through your wet hair.”
At least twice a week, I incorporate the Full & Vibrant Thickening Treatment into my routine and focus on applying it to my roots. This product works wonders to make my hair look fuller and more voluminous. My hair tends to get frizzy, especially in the sweltering southern heat; their Argan Oil Taming Serum is the perfect product to combat frizz and nourish my hair. “After drying my hair, I apply the serum to smooth out any frizz and then throw it into my bag for occasional touch-ups whenever needed throughout the day.”

“What do y’all think? My hair looks and feels so soft and radiant every single time! I also really appreciate that the Hair Biology line’s biotin-infused formula, which is so important for women after the age of 50. Plus, these products are also safe and gentle to use on color-treated hair.”
It’s great to have picture-perfect hair again without spending hours under a blow dryer or with a ton of styling products. Maintaining this low-maintenance hair care routine with Hair Biology has helped me feel confident as I take care of my hair as it ages. Their products address the specific needs of my changing hair, providing nourishment and support that boosts my self-esteem. And as a breast cancer survivor, I know that each day is a gift. I feel good about myself when I look in the mirror, and I feel blessed that I can age with both grace and confidence.

Till Next Time,
Lori Allen
